Mikel Oyarzabal returned to the Anoeta Stadium with the World Cup trophy. The Real Sociedad captain dedicated the trophy he won with the Spanish national team to the home fans, who mostly responded with applause and cheers, but a few protests were heard in the Bultzada section.
Before the match between Real Sociedad and their opponents, Oyarzabal did not walk onto the pitch with his teammates as usual, but instead appeared alone later, holding the World Cup trophy. Players from both teams then lined up to pay tribute to the Spanish international.
Oyarzabal walked to near the center circle and displayed the trophy to the fans. Most Real Sociedad supporters in the stands stood up and applauded, with many expressing their pride in their team captain with cheers and applause.
